This is my space to blog and hopefully blog and get a post or two from people who've listened and have something to say in encouragement, advice, or plain and simple camaraderie.
I'm a simple person who is mom to 3 adult children and one teen, 3 are male and one is female and grandma to 3 grandchildren, two are male and one is female.
My husband is a retired government worker. He was a digital cartotech which means he helped make maps and he did so on the computer. Dave, my husband, is terminally ill with advanced liver disease a result of all the heavy duty chemo he had to get rid of his Hodgkin's disease (cancer of the lymph nodes). Ever year or so he gets tested to make sure the liver disease hasn't turned into liver cancer.
I need a place to chat with people and keep my mind on other things and this is my place to do so. Sometimes I'll talk about a book I've read, sometimes I'll share a joke, sometimes I'll cry, sometimes I'll share my life and sometimes I will link to something I find interesting.

My daughter who is a single mom of 29 is losing her child support because her 14 year old son has decided to live with dad full time. Kristy rented her house with the expectation of having the child support so now she must downsize and rent something less expensive. I went with her today to look at two possibilities. She is trying to find something for $500 or less.
One is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath near the fast food restaurants and the university and is located smack in where the students for the college live. It is close to a park where she could take the 6 year old to but she would have to watch him more closely than she's had to in the past but it is a nice looking house and reasonable in price.
The other is behind a restaurant near the rail road tracks. It is a cute 2 bedroom, 1 bath. She would definitely have to sell a lot of her possessions to fit in this place. The house has another renter who rents out the lower level, the basement so she would be above somebody and she has the two boys. Plus she works nights so is used to being up late walking around.
Her youngest son is in tears. He loves where she lives now and the friends he has there. And he is adjusting to his older brother not being at home like he used to be. He misses his brother and now he is going to have other adjustments to make.
All my family have a tradition of twice a month getting all of us together (all means all 3 adults and their families and my husband and I and our youngest son and his girlfriend). We would have a potluck dinner with each adult family bringing food to share. And we would play games or just socialize with each other.
Our Family Get Togethers have always been at Kristy's house because right now it is so big. Her moving will put a stop to that and I for one will miss it.
And we are going to miss the grandson who will be at his dad's house all the time instead of with mom. We raised Cam until he was 7. He and my daughter lived with us until then. I took care of him while my daughter finished high school and then went on to college. Dad didn't have much interest until the boy became old enough to take care of himself. But Cam is smitten with his dad and his dad is interested in him now.
I am proud of my daughter. She isn't whining or complaining about the changes happening in her life. She said she is not attached to material things and will not worry about all the stuff she is going to have to sale nor that she will have a much smaller abode. She did cry of course about losing the time with her son. That hurt and it hurt bad.

It's snowing and I'm in bliss truly I love snow. Two of my sons are out snow plowing and will be doing that activity all night and into the morning of tomorrow. Suppose to snow all night long. My grandson is anxious to sled. He tried to do so at the beginning of the snow fall tonight but the sled wouldn't bulge.
It is possible K and T will be roomies. My oldest "T" might move in with my daughter "K". A possibility of him moving out of our home and into hers was discussed tonight. He will pay her $200 a month; he doesn't pay us anything. This will help her enough she can keep the big house she is in now and won't have to move.

The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall is one of the books I'm reading.
A multimillionaire dies. At the reading of the will all of the relatives receive healthy settlements in the estate except for one grand nephew who is offered a deal. If for 12 months he can follow the monthly rules laid down by video from his dead grand uncle he will receive the ultimate gift.
Jason takes the plunge. At first he is sullen and has a real bad attitude but as the months go by and he obeys the rules for the months he begins to change. The first month for him is the hardest. This young man has never worked in his life and the first month is the gift of work.
He is taken to a cattle ranch and set up with the chore of laying a fence line. Day after day he lays the poles and strings wire for a month. By the end of the month he has learned the value of work. The proceeding months are the same something is taught by following the rules.
There is a month of giving money away to five needy people. A month of living in South America in a remote library. A month of figuring out what his dreams are. Etc.
Interesting book and uplifting. I remember the movie. The book is written in the voice of the lawyer who oversees everything. The movie was on the person of Jason and what happened when he went and did the assignments given him.

Sounds like a really interesting book, Ginny.
I hope things between K & T can sort themselves out. It'd be good if K got some help.

I couldn't sleep last night with the excitement of the snow coming down.
The book is interesting Trish. I have another one I'm reading too by Dee Henderson. It is about a lady who is an undercover cop and murder.
I should be doing laundry. Ok one load on its way.
Wonder if my daughter and grandson will come by today for roast beef and taters. She will be taking him out in the snow for sled riding.
Question: When you mature in the Lord does the Holy Spirit become more aware to you or you to HIM and to other Christians?

Hi, Ginny. I saw the Ultimate Gift movie recently. Pretty good. Is it in keeping with the book.

T has decided to move in with K. I will make his room a guest room.
I spent the evening trying to play rummikub online. Kept having to turn off my computer to get the Internet to work. My computer has a virus I think one that won't let me stay in one spot for long.
One of the people I played against said he is agnostic. I asked him what he meant and he said he is open to everything and believes in nothing that he doesn't believe in God but said that religion has done some good things.

Hi Ginny. How are you doing? I've been thinking about you a lot lately and wondering how you're doing.
Yikes to the virus.
I think that as you mature in the Lord, you become more aware of the Holy Spirit's leadings. I know that I did. The more you yield, the more you can hear the Holy Spirit speaking. Showing you things in your life that you need to deal with. Showing you what you are to do. Comforting you. Encouraging you. Helping you to heal.

I've lost connection with the Holy Spirit. Who is He?? Does he stand beside me when I am fighting insanity? Does he move inside of me and make me think I've got a spirit inside of me moving around? Or is he the one who causes me to still thank Jesus for dying on the cross?

My car was low on gas and we needed drinks at the house so I stopped by the gas station on the way to K's house. Filled up the car with gas, got the drinks then went to pay for everything. The clerk ran up the items and the gas and I gave him the card my husband had given me to pay for the purchases. Hmmm....WRONG CARD!
My husband had given me the athletic card instead of our debit card! Kinda not nice. The gas was already in the car. I was fortunate the clerk thought of me as an honest person. He let me go home and get the card and come back to pay for the gas and the drinks. When I got back he said the guy behind me told him I was gone and wouldn't come back. Made him a bit nervous I think until I showed back up.
