This might be a fun game. If not may this thread die an apathetic death. One poster names an artist (band or person) and the next poster responds with an artist who shares some type of connection with the previous artist. Don't say what the connnection is at first, let everyone try to figure it out. Feel free to guess on the connection or ask what the connection is. It might be wise to mention the artist you're connecting to in the unlikely event two people are posting at once. A few examples for clarity: If I said Lynyrd Skynyrd one possible response would be Molly Hatchet. Both of them were southern rock bands in the 70s. Or I might say Neil Young. Lynyrd Skynyrd mentions Neil Young and his song "Southern Man" in their song "Sweet Home Alabama". If I said Led Zeppelin someone might respond with The Honeydrippers. Both bands featured Robert Plant on vocals. If I said Metallica someone might respond with Live. The connection? Both bands have a famous song with the word lightning in it. Live: "Lightning Crashes". Metallica: "Ride the Lightning". A third person could respond with the rap artist Tricky. The connection is that Tricky rapped on Live's "Like A Soldier" (from Live's CD "V"). I don't want to take away all the good examples so I'll stop here. Hopefully it'll be fun and we learn a little musical trivia. The first one I offer up is Black Sabbath.

Deep Purple: Connection being that both bands were fronted by Ian Gillian. Black Sabbath Born Again is an under-rated album featuring Ian Gillian on lead vocals.

Rob Halford sang for both bands. Which also connects to Black Sabbath since Halford was a session singer for Black Sabbath for one year during a tour, just can't remember which tour. Judas Priest and Yngwie Malmstein.

The Ritchie Blackmore connection between Rainbow and Deep Purple? Yeah, it was a softball. Which other musician(s) were in both bands? I know of one but I'm not sure if there are more.

Rob Halfrod and Yngwie both like wearing leather pants and showing off their chests. *shudders* -Dan.

Yeah, thats what I was looking for. Oddly enough, Ripper Owens is the new singer Yngwie's new album that is coming real soon. It should be really good. I agree its great version. I also love the version of Hellraiser that Joe Lynn Turner sings on. Better than the original as well.

Because I Am A Viking is such an awesome song? lol Seriously, I hope he does a better job than he did in Judas Priest and Iced Earth. I gave him another chance with Beyond Fear and he gained a bit more respect from me. Now lets hope the trend continues.

Lisa Loeb & Dweezil do pretty well on "Goodbye to Romance," too. -Dan.

Seriously, I hope he does a better job than he did in Judas Priest and Iced Earth. Both of which replaced him with their original or iconic vocalists. Thus my comment.

*note to self, look up speed* Thats really cool. So not only do both Dickinson and Halford have Roy Z involved on their solo work, do a duet on the song The Ones You Love To Hate on Halford's Ressurection album, but their was a band called Speed. I seriously need to check it out. Theirs a connection between The Go Go's and Van Halen?

They are both from Los Angeles! Maybe that was too much of a stretch?

while all of this is fun to play, we are online at ccm, which is contemporary christian music, not secular music forum. all anyone talks about is poison, korn, megadeth, anthrax, iron maiden, ozzy, metallica, kiss, judas priest, and oh yeah, lynrd skynrd, led zeppelin and the like. shouldn't we be talking about christian music? there are plenty of musicians and singers that praise Jesus with music and lyrics. third day, newsboys, audio adrenaline, by the tree, jars of clay, dc talk, and skillet , just to mention a few.

And notice that the threads here are sans bad language like the secular boards and people try to be nicer to one another here? Just a few things you might have missed that make it different than a secular board! There's a "Christian" name game thread you can stick to or as huskraine said you are always free to start your own.
