Anyone here create artist trading cards? I am interested in learning more about them. I have Googled the topic, and the one thing I read over and over is this: anything goes. I like that kind of creativity!

I'll start by asking a few remedial questions:
Does a place like Michaels' have the blank cards already cut to size?
What about the sleeves used to mail them out?
How do you go about trading?
What do you use to store your cards?

Thanks in advance!

artist trading cards? for education about artists in the past or for current artists to market ideas with? Alot of printing companies already make what is basically an oversized business card for current artists to share with clients.

If you want basic business card size blanks, go to Sam's Club or the office supply stores.

i'm not sure, but you should be able to but a cutting may and cork-backed meatl ruler to cut, or get a paper cutter. often, your local photocopying store has a paper cutter you could use.

?
you could wrap them in a bundle and send that...or put them in those plastic slide sleeves and fold them as needed

find a local ATC session - more and more galleries (especially the artist-run centre - are running monthly or quarterly programs, precisely because ATCs are so accessible

plastic sleeves, or a recipe card box

here are some more resources (just in case):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artist_trading_cards (lots of resources)
http://www.artjunction.org/atcs.php (for teachers)
http://community.livejournal.com/artist_cards (a compendium)

...and there are many many books out there about them - check your local library.

I have been into ATCs for some time now. I have a site at http://www.webbers.com.mailart. The address is not current so don't send them to that address. If you want to see some samples of my work they are there. Also some ATC open calls as well as links to other sites.

I need to update that address!
