What kinds of resource materials do you use when you study the Bible? Could you please give the title of the book, and tell why you use it?

When I used the King James Version of the Bible exclusively I used Young's Analytical Concordance to the Bible as my primary study tool. When I switched the the NASB, I purchased the New American Standard Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible which is based on Stong's numbering system.

I occasionally use Lewis Sperry Chafer's Systematic Theology which I have in seven volumes. I also use Systemtic Theology by L. Berkhof. But The Faith Once for All by Jack Cottrell is the systematic theology that I refer to first.

Over the last few years, I've been trying to collect at least one commentary on every book of the Bible without actually buy a set that has them all. I've got a lot of them but not all yet. Still workin' on it.

I keep it simple. I use Adventuring Through the Bible to get an overview or a synopsis of the section before diving into the book itself. It kind of gives me a heads up as to something else to look to. As I read, I read the page, then drop down to the study notes and read all of them. Then if there are any thematic sections or biographies, I will read those. I will also compare different versions to see if it gives me any more detail, character studies or principle outlines.

I will also look up different scriptures as I read christian living books, and read the sections around the verses listed so I can see it the way that it's laid out in the bible and compare that with the way the book uses it is consistent.
