Ethernet is the networking technology most often used to connect to cable modems, DSL modems, routers, switches, and hubs. If you have a "network cable" running from your computer to a switch/router/cable modem/DSL modem then you have an Ethernet "card". It may not be a separate card, but just a "port" (i.e. a connector socket) on the back of the computer. The Ethernet network cable resembles a phone cable but the end has 8 wires on it instead of 4 like a phone cord, and the plug is a little wider. When you are connected to the Internet, if you use dial-up, you are not using Ethernet. But if you are not using dialup, you most likely are using Ethernet to get to the modem, or you may be using USB. When connected to the Internet, look at your network connection details in Control Panel and look at the hardware used for the network connection. There you should find your answer.
