Ok, here's the problem. I have a Toshiba laptop and it seems each time I type, the curse jumps up to at least three lines above what I'm writing and the typing jumps up to that line. It drives me nutty!! It seems it happens mostly when my wrists are resting on the laptop. Any ideas????? kim

well it could be as simple as you hitting the eraser mouse. I do that a lot with my laptop. just be very careful of where you are resting, or putting your thumb, or fingers when typing. if you still get the jumping around, it could be something under the keyboard like wiring when you press a key another wire is triggered that moves the cursor. where is your cursor when you start typing? is it three lines up? just a thought.

Sometimes it does jump to the curser. So I try to keep the curser on the same line. I too wondered if I was accidently hitting the mouse thingie. I try to keep my wrists lifted when I type. Tha sometimes helps. thanks!!! kim

If this keeps happening, try attaching a full-sized keyboard to your laptop. This can help you determine whether it is the keyboard or something else. Dave.

Or just disable the "tap" function on your trackpad. It's the first thing I do whenever I start using a new laptop.

How do I do that? I've never heard of tap function. And what's the trackpad? Sorry, but I'm pretty ignorant on these things. :) quote:

On those occasions when my PC was in the shop I was able to plug everything into it (sound system, display, mouse) except for the keyboard. Would have liked to, though. Perhaps just plugging a mouse in would disable the trackpad.
