Later, Stella! Have a safe and enjoyable trip! Yesterday evening's run was scheduled for 17 minutes, but I did around 18.5 actually. I wanted to finish a lap, which is why I extended the time. Did a mile and a quarter in that amount of time, then sat down for a drink of water and a few minutes of rest. A couple of older ladies from my church were out walking at the track, so I joined them for a lap. Then I stopped for another sip of water and decided to try a speed lap, just to get a feel for how fast I should be going on Thursday. Started my chronometer and took off. Looked at my time when I got back to the starting line and saw that it was 2:37:49 - which is a little faster than I want (or need) to be going. I'll back it off a little bit on Thursday, but at least I have an idea of what my body is going to be feeling like. Duane

I ran 3 miles this morning. It was already getting warm out so it was a hard run, but I felt good afterwards.

Just home from vacation. We had a blast, but it's good to be home! Guess I'm more of a home-body than I realized. While on vacation (we went to Ellie-Mae and Davy Crocket's) we had a Fun Run. A link to my Race Report on my running site: http://www.kickrunners.com/forum//showthread.php?t=35293 . I ran this route Tuesday, Wednesday and today. Although today I ran the route the other direction so I didn't have to battle The Mall Hill. Although, going down was almost as difficult as going up!

Last night was "speed night" for me. I ran six 440's, and was supposed to walk 1/2 lap between them. The first 2 were like that, but the rest of them had a full lap between. My times were (in order) 2:49, 2:52, 2:55, 3:00, 3:01, and 2:48. I can't quite figure out why I had that 2 lap 'slump' in the middle, but over all I'm pleased with how things turned out. Physically, I was in pretty good shape afterwards. Tomorrow is my 3.5 mile run, and I'm actually looking forward to it. Does that mean that I'm (A) crazy, (B) a runner, or (C) crazy about running? Pick A, B, or C, and tell me your opinion.

I know it doesn't technically qualify as running, but I've been doing 25+ mph biking for around 30 minutes a day, including HIIT within that duration. It's a start.

It's so good to be back home! I ran my usual long route this morning. My legs were so not fresh! Running in the New York hills this past week killed my legs! 10m, 1:32, 9:16pace. I'll take it.

Bikings great for exercise if you keep up the rpms. We try to do 90 rpm in spin class.. but 25mph speed is pretty fast. I think my top speed is 12-15 mph

Kristin--you really do need to control your pace. For a normal run of the mill workout, you should be able to carry on a conversation easily. NO huffing and puffing. If you can do that, you're probably doing fine, just getting a bit faster! Yesterday was a rest day, but I ended up taking ds3 to the bike path for a short "brick". He's doing a duathlon in about a month. We did a .5mile run/8mile bike/1mile run. He did great! He's gonna smoke his race! This morning, I did my own brick. Bike 16miles. Felt really sluggish. Not sure what's going on. Then quick change and headed out for a run. The run did not go well at all. Oh well... Then, took ds1 and ds4 to the bike path. Ds1 did hill repeats on his own. Ds4 and I did a brick. .25mile run/3mile bike/.5mile run. He also did great and is going to smoke his race!

We had such nice, cool weather all weekend. I was going to run 3 miles yesterday instead of the 2 miles my training program calls for, but I got a blister in the arch of my left foot, so I stopped at 2. I think my foot is deformed or something. It doesn't matter what shoe I wear or what kind of insole I use, I tend to get a blister in the same spot on my left foot. What gives?

That's weird. I'd see about going to a running store where they can evaluate if you need something different or special. Blisters are no fun!

stellaluna--when are you getting the blister? At what distance? Weather condition (heat/humidity)? What kind of socks are you wearing? I tend to get blisters on the balls of my feet. It only happens on long runs, like 10miles or more. I've just used 2" cloth tape to prevent them. Recently, I've tried vasoline, and that works, too. Every once in a while--like every few months--I'll get blisters on the ends of my toes. No rhyme or reason. I don't try to prevent them because I never know when I'm going to get them. I just deal with them. Long run Saturday. Son raced Sunday (sprint duathlon, 2nd in his age group), then I got a short long run in when we got home. This morning I did a short speed workout in the pool. I'm doing a Half Ironman on Sunday.

I can't seem to duplicate the problem. The first time it happened was in my old NB shoes, but I was on an elliptical machine, not running. That was about a year ago. Since then, I've gotten the same blister in a pair of Brooks GTS7 and two separate pairs of Asics GT-2130. The shoes I ran in last night are about two months old and I've run in them a couple dozen times in distances up to about 3 miles. I felt the first pinch of blister just half a mile in last night. The blister is in the arch of my left foot--where the insole meets the shoe. It obviously rubs there, but not every time. I always wear the same Under Armour socks. I guess I'll just have to keep a bandaid on that part of my foot.

I had a good run this morning. It's cooler and I ran 2 miles at a decent pace. I wanted to go further, but decided to do my long run tomorrow when I will hopefully (if I can get myself out of bed at a better time) have a little more time.
