Now we just need to work on Jeannie's ear, Phosy's career aspirations, Beckey's mom, and QT's glue habit.

Edit: Oops. Forgot Terri. Sorry about that. Gotta add in a job for Terri.

Very sorry for the oversight. How are you coming along with that?

We can bend the ear of a friend.
We can eat an ear (of corn, except in certain portions of New Guinea where it's a bit more extreme)
We can simply get or have someone's ear.

We can even lend an ear.

The number of things that can be done with ears is amazing.

In your case, though I think it just involved a small prayer.

I went to the unemployment office today. I can't file for unemployment, but they can help me find a job.

I got a lead through the Employment office that led to a 24.5 year career at a higher position than was advertised and near my hometown. It took a few trips to the office, but it eventually paid off. (I also didn't qualify to file.)

My last job, since it was a private school, wasn't obligated to pay for unemployment and stuff like that. Therefore I cannot file.

Argh. You're the second person I've met recently with that problem. It bugs me to no end - you may not be able to offer your employees much security, but providing basic unemployment insurance is not tremendously expensive.

The first person I met was employed by a church that had no problem paying their pastor (who was also a published author) over $100k. They could afford that but couldn't afford to pay unemployment insurance for the staff. It just frosts me. I'm still old school enough to think that you need to provide some basics for your people.

It really stinks. I can't file for my job before that either because it was a private employment.

Well, that's good anyway. Keep me posted. We unemployed folk need to stick together.

from now on I am going to pm phosy, tell her what I want to say, and let her post on my behalf. It always comes out better that way.

Blue I looked at what you mentioned. I don't find it feasible at this time.

I'm going to go talk to a friend of the family when I get a chance though. Check it out, get some behind the scenes if they'll let me.

I think it is always good to check out a job before making a career of it.

My friend the school teacher probably wishes she had, as she spends the day wiping kindergarten noses and burned out years ago.

I work for one of those churches...

Your posts were great - people were just being obnoxious and choosing not to get it... I seriously don't get why they weren't getting what you were saying... Somehow, I think some of them won't get what I said either but...
