Hi Mike and Lisa

Does your mom live in Boston, Mike? Do you get to see her often?

I miss my mom

Are you one who invites all sorts to your table, Lisa?

We never knew who would share our holiday meals with us. My mom kind of adopted strays. One year a man came who I think may have been homeless--or maybe just not well cared for--anyway he never said a word to anyone. He would sort of smile and nod but didn't talk.

When we asked mom where he came from she said she just found him at the shopping center--that's all she told us---ever.

I am most definitely that type, DivaB. I always cook enough for a small army, and my motto is, the more, the merrier.

But that's not the only reason I invited Mike. We've known each other (in person) for a long time, but I haven't seen him in about 4 years. He's never met my DH. So I'd love to have him for the holidays.

No, I'm originally from St. Louis and now I live in Alabama. Mike and I met here on CW and formed a friendship from there. We've seen each other in person on quite a few occasions.

I've also met a few others here on CW.

Di (ladioffaith)
Maggie (magdaleine)

and a few others who are either no longer here or don't (for whatever reason) don't want to be identified.

What's REALLY funny is that Eutychus lives literally just down the highway from me and we've never met.

I keep where I am private here--I have never met anyone on CW IRL (that I know of)--but I do know of 2 that live in the same state I do.

We used to have get-togethers where a bunch of us would meet somewhere for a vacation. I'm not sure anyone still does that, though. It would be fun to plan one, though.

I think they still have get togethers--if I remember correctly there was one for singles this summer.

And I think there is a plan in the works for some peeps to go the Wyoming to see Sharon-Marie next year.

Hey Diva and friends... sadly enough, the flu bug did bite... I've been pretty much down for the last 3 or so days. I think I'm going to go into work today though- hope I make it through the whole day, but I'm not sure.

I think I'll just be doing Thanksgiving at home with younger DS. I'm just not feeling up to a whole lot.

Yes, she lives in the Boston area. I see her probably at least once every couple of months or so.

Yes, it would be very nice to meet DH, not to mention seeing Nick again as well!

I've met quite a few from here also. Now Lisa, you gotta meet Euty and tell me if is as nice in person as he appears to be on the net!

Well gobble day is gone and so is Black Friday. If the store where I work is any indication it was a good day for retailers.

I am now on the hustle to finish some Christmas projects. Have 7 pairs of kids slippers and 4 adult slippers to make. They are easy projects but I am a ditz and get distracted easily. So many things I want to do but only so many hours.

My one Thanksgiving Day tradition is to make a decoration for my front door. Did it and put it up and I am now a happy divabrat.

Off to the grocery now. Wantin me some chili so gotta go git the fixins.

Hope y'all are having a great day. Later...

Hiya Divabrat, I love hand knit slippers! I bought a pair a few years ago on Ebay and they were great!

It has been crazy busy in my life. So not much time to do more than poke around here a few minutes a day.

All my Christmas shopping and making is done Well, I do have one more pair of slippers to make but that will only take a couple of hours.

Went to our condo party last night. It was nice and had really good wine. I am not much of a drinker so when I was headed for my 4th glass of wine I decided that unless I wanted to become the entertainment it would be best to switch to water

Tomorrow our boss is taking us out to dinner at a nice restaurant. I personally think these dinner things are a bit stressful but do appreciate the thought. And it is one night out of the year so I guess I will survive.

Today I went to a friends house to help her with some decorating. Not Christmas stuff. They have just finished some work on the downstairs of their house and I helped with the accessorizing. It was fun and only took a couple of hours. Then we went shopping for a bit.

Hope y'all are having good days and not feeling stressed but blessed!

Hey there divaB. I was just thinking last night that I needed to find your thread and see what you've been up to!

Good plan that you decided not to be the entertainment at the condo party- I have had a few times when I was the entertainment - not good at all . It was in my much younger days, so it was not quite as bad as it could be now that I'm old enough to know better, lol.

I don't think I've been stressed, I gave that up with my younger years too, . These days I realize that everything goes "ok" if not everything is perfect. Unless I'm missing a gift for someone nobody notices anything else that doesnt' get done!

Hey Gma---You have the right attitude. Few things are so important that if not done it ruins the day.

I am on the run--going to have lunch with a friend then to work then Christmas dinner with coworkers.

See y'all later.

The Christmas dinner with my co workers was very nice. Our boss took us to a nice cozy restaurant--the food there is always wonderful.

Earlier in the day I had lunch with a friend. We had gone to a craft fair in November and saw some prints that I really liked. One in particular--and she got it for me. I was with her the whole time and I never knew she bought it. What a nice sneaky friend she is.

All my Christmas shopping, making and baking is done. But I have not sent cards. I think I am going to send Happy New Year cards instead. I may start a new card tradition for myself this year. One less thing to do before Christmas cannot be a bad thing.

I have been reading about all the bad weather around. It is beautiful here. Yesterday was gloomy and rainy all day but today just sun and fluffy white clouds.

Question for y'all. Do you send thank you cards for gifts you receive?

If you do--do you send to everyone or just to some people?

Hi Divabrat, generally speaking, I do not send thank you cards at all, but this might be much more cultural than anything else.

We are having nice weather here too Diva, no snow to speak of so far.

As for "thank-you's" I don't send them for Christmas gifts- if the giver is not there when I open it I will call them soon afterward to say thank you, but usually do not send out cards.

I don't have an excuse of snow, but I'm feeling especially lazy today and didn't make it to church. I haven't even gotten dressed yet! I think I'm going to try making Lioness's "Oreo Truffles" that she mentioned in another thread- I got the cookies, semi sweet chocolate and cream cheese yesterday, so I'm all set. Hmmm, maybe some cookies too. I hadn't done any baking until now, but I think I'm getting in the mood to do some .

I am bad about sending out cards. Even birthday cards.

I do not send thank you cards for birthday or christmas as I thank the person not there.

I suppose if I got married or had a baby shower I'd have to send those out. LOL
