I'm thinking about the Keurig coffee system, Kerrlaw.

Mr. Cranky says we already have a press pot, a brewer, and a senseo--he's wondering why we need another coffee maker.

What should I tell him?

Don't! Just bring one home and declare, "look what I got you for an early Valentines present!" Could work.

That's a GREAT idea, Kath!

It's his birthday next week, but maybe that's too soon and obvious.

Oh Wise Counselor Kerrlaw,

Why is bologna round? Don't they realize sandwich bread is square?

Hi Kerr---coffee club, did someone say COFFEE? Love good coffee. In fact Starbucks is our latest "thing." haven't found anything we don't like there.

Have you tried their cream cheese pumpkin muffins? They are to die for!

I've only tried a couple of the "sweets" so far. The vanilla bean scones and the cranberry bar (not sure what it was called) I called it delicious!

Sell all the other ones in a yard sale and buy the Keurig. Seriously.

My most favorite thing about mine, besides the speed and wonderful coffee, is that there is so little to clean up. You have to descale it every 6 months or so (which can be done with vinegar and water)....other than that, all I've had to do is dust it off every couple days to keep it looking pretty and shiny, and throw the k-cups away after using them. No more moldy disgusting coffee goo to wash out of the percolator after forgetting about it.

That's funny Beckey. Drastic, but funny.

The senseo is also very clean. It uses little pods so there isn't any coffee mess.

But yes, I've heard the Keurig is very clean too.

I'm trying to justify having all of the coffee makers at once.

You could always start your own neighborhood coffee shop. LOL! I'm sure mr cranky would love that reason.

Not too soon at all! I was going to suggest a bday present but didn't know when that was. I've been thinking about getting one too but I have a lot of coffee in the house right now.

I have never tried them but I love pumpkin muffins! Larry gets them from panera for me once in a while.

One time I went through the drive through at SB and asked the young girl (you could tell she had to be like 17) what kind of rolls and muffins they had. She said the normal kind. I said yes, but what kind? She said, most exasperatedly, the REGULAR kind. I just sighed and said just coffee. I really wish I would have asked for the manager but I didn't have that much time. I've never tried to order again.

The first time I went to a SB I asked if they had flavored coffee and he pointed to the liquid stuff, and I said no, I wondered if they had flavored beans. He was really snooty and said that coffee doesn't grow with flavored beans. I was really provoked at him and had a little chat with him. the other gal was just young and foolish, he was just a snob.

I love their blueberry muffins...lowfat ones are just as good as the fully loaded ones.

If anyone is looking for a coffeemaker I would suggest a Bunn. A family from church gave me one about 4 years ago. 2-3 minutes to brew a 10-cup pot. You can't beat it for speed when you get a cravin' for a fresh cup of coffee.

I have a senseo at the office. Since Mr. Cranky likes it so much, let him take it to the office.

In addition to what Beckey said, there are many, many varieties of coffee made for the Kuerig. It also makes delicious hot tea, and the best cocoa I've ever had at home. Mrs. K is the cocoa drinker, and she loves it. What seals the deal is the beautiful blue glow of the light, which illuminates the water reservoir.

I suggest that you buy him the Keurig, pack up the Senseo for the office, splash on a little Deliverance, and sing Happy Birthday.

Not to worry, Kath. You can purchase an "all purpose" cup insert that allow you to use the Keurig with your own coffee.

I hate coffee snobs.

Pass the Kopi Luwak.

I loved working at the coffee shop and miss it dearly! I loved being able to hang out with my customers and chat. It was always funny because I'd have the same people just about every morning and if I missed a morning they would be asking where I was. I liked working the afternoons too when the after school crowd came in. I could sling out 4 frappucinos in less than 2 minutes.

Should note that the perfume is not called deliverance- that is what Mr. Cranky called it... I forget the actual name of the perfume.

I had to show this to Mr. Cranky. He laughed and laughed.

We have real life friends who just bought their Keurig today, so we called and asked how the first cup was. She said it was the decaf, and it was good.

We may invade their house and try it out.

Like Miss Gizmo, I do not drink coffee, liking Dr. Pepper much better (I have been a Pepperholic for over 30 years), so I was wondering if I qualified to still hang out here in Sir Kerrlaw's thread.

Then I remembered that I am a proud graduate (1976) of COFFEE HIGH SCHOOL in Florence, AL.

WHEW, that was close!

I just ordered a vacuum pot and it should be here any time. We're looking for the perfect brewing method for the kopi luwak, and our resident coffee expert said that the vacuum pot brews on the same concept as the Balancing Siphon Coffee Maker but it doesn't cost $425. We're also going to french press a pot. And we'll use Fuji or Icelandic Glacier water.

I'm not a huge fan of Starbucks (it's not bad, I just think it's WWAAAAAY over-rated and overpriced), but they have a specialty coffee out now that makes the best cold brew I have ever tasted. It's called Ethiopia Sundried Sidamo. The beans are dried while still in the coffee cherries, which infuses the beans with a very chocolatey, fruity undertone. The cold brew method brings out the complex flavor.

If any of you, & I would love to have you, ever decide to come & visit, I only have 1 coffee pot that I bought at K-Mart over 25 years ago. I'm told it makes good coffee but have no way of knowing since I do not drink coffee. If my pot is not the kind you want used for your coffee, please, bring one with you. Just thought I'd let you know in advance so you can have your coffee when you arrive.
