I like both too. John is a cat person. The only dog he would want is a bull dog. lol

Good morning/afternoon island peeps! How are you today? Just one more day of w*** on this end. And I'm just sitting here wondering if they fixed the profile thingy. I haven't checked yet. I do hope so cause I'd like to change my sig each time I change my blog.

A few changes has been made at John's workplace but the biggest praise is that he now has the Sabbath off! More answered prayers there and we are really looking forward to new beginnings.

Let's see now...the QOD...

I've been thinking more about the Sabbath. I know that not everyone feels that it should be observed on a specific day, etc, etc... but no matter what day, what does the Sabbath mean to you?

Rest. Relaxation. Spending time with God.

How am I today? Someone on another forum said, "I'm done here" and I thought she was leaving to go to bed or something and I said "bye bye" and she sent a message to me saying that that was thoughtless because she was depressed and I should think about what I say and I didn't mean to make her feel that she wasn't wanted!! *sob*

Rest and focusing on the Lord.

When I was growing up, we had "blue laws" which kept most stores closed on Sunday. Interestingly, the law provided an exception allowing stores to open on Sunday if the proprietor(s) observed the Sabbath on another day. I'd love to see a return to those days, but sadly the state Supreme Court long ago struck down the blue laws as unconstitutional.

For some stores around here, Sunday's sales figures, at least on a per-hour basis, are among the best of the week.

(((Slushie))) ___ it's hard to tell when "I'm done here" means suicidal and other times it means, "off line to do something else". You poor dear... And your friend... is s/he doing OK?

.
.
.

I am unaware of any store in my area being closed on Sunday. Sabbath doesn't really have much meaning for me personally. I know what it's supposed to mean, but I live more fully on Sunday and celebrating "Sabbath" is a pipe dream. On the other hand... if "Sabbath" means going to church, taking care of parents, and others, then... yes, I'm observing that.

(((pruned))) thanks. I hope she's ok. She hasn't been back online yet. I wouldn't want to have driven her to suicide

The sabbath is much lost on society today. For me, the sabbath means a day of rest, no working.

((((Slushie)))) I am sure she will come back soon to see your message. Hope all is well with her.

As usual, I enjoyed reading your answers. I think I should answer my own question huh. lol

I have learned of late that the Sabbath is truly a wonderful gift from G-d, not something that is necessary for our salvation but influential in our relationship with G-d. G-d had commanded the Hebrews to rest on this day. Not only is rest good for our bodies, but the fact that G-d commanded it in the OT speaks volumes. I picture it this way...He creates the earth and everything in it. He creates man. When He is done I picture Him looking on at His creation WITH Adam. The close bond He must of had with Adam and He stood there with Him, deeming His work at good. He ceased and completed His work and then pressed Adam to have dominion over all the earth. So too we are to work for 6 days, rest and share the Glory of His Creation by the work of our own hands. In the NT, Jesus reveals the Sabbath in a new light. Not only was it as a day of rest, it was a day of serving others and doing good...not for money or trade but simply to be well for others.

John and I will probably do different things on the Sabbath. We may take a walk together to just reflect on all that G-d has done for us during the week. We may just veg and read. We may volunteer.

Great to hear slushie! "Have a nice haircut." LOL. Cute. Very cute.

So I am supposed to be cleaning right now. Eh, give me 30 more minutes. Being that John made a small list for Costco, I guess I'm going to Costco.

What up in your neck of the woods?

Did I mention that I have to clean? lol

QOD: How would you describe me?

No really...

Hospitable, friendly, and someone serious about getting to know the Lord better.

One more thing - someone who remembers her single brothers and sisters need fellowship and encouragement, too. Too many Christians forget that after they get married.

Awe thanks everyone! That was fun. lol.

ds, I'm so glad you feel encouraged here. That's always my goal. For people to be encouraged here and to have fun.

Hi Mike! Haven't been around forums as much this past week. How are you doing? How are you coping to the changes?

Be back later when I am settled down tonight. W*** is slow today so far. It's only 11 am still so maybe it will pick up.

Hi Trishy, I am still adjusting and my acid reflux continues to act up. Makes me not want to eat anything! I am gonna head to the store shortly and buy something to eat. Money is an issue right now too.
