So I want to share something with y'all that blessed me.

A great friend of mine, will call her S, sent out an email near Easter about colored eggs. It was very sweet, and she was sharing something very dear to her heart. She was sharing how she and her husband used to spend Easter with their daughter when she was little. One thing that S said in this email was that every girl should have a basket of colored eggs from her heavenly Father. There was a long and cool lead in to that that made a lot more sense than I can paraphrase in any kind of reasonable amout of time.

So I really wanted to do something for S for Easter. S has become like a mother to me in so many ways and has really blessed me. I was going to color eggs (because her email was about real eggs that they had colored) and write encouraging scriptures on it. I know S has had a difficult time of things lately. Well, I realized that in order to color eggs, you have to hard boil them first. (Aren't ya glad I realized that? I am!) Well, since I have never colored eggs on my own, and I have never hard boiled eggs before, I thought it would be wise not to make S my first experiment on that!!

A little background on me: I'm not a creative person. That's something that's been a great source of frustration for me for years. I've always enjoyed other people's creativity and felt inadequate because I was unable to come up with things like that.

So... I tried my best to be creative and was actually impressed with my efforts. I bought a bunch of colored plastic eggs, an easter basket, easter grass, some assorted chocolates, and three tiny notepads of pastel purple, pink, and blue. I put the basket together in the pretty basic way, but inside the colored eggs that I put in the basket (12 of them) I put pieces of paper. On the pastel colored paper that I rolled up inside each egg, I put a variety of little notes. I put two pieces of paper in each egg, of different colors. On the pieces of paper were either a scripture verse that I found encouraging or a prayer that I had prayed for S. That was six of the eggs. In the other six, I put one piece of paper in each and put one special way that she had blessed me on the paper. I also put a card in there with a message and a copy of a very heartfelt prayer I had put in my prayer journal for her in February. I had been waiting for the right time to share it with her, and it felt like the right time.

After a couple weeks of trying to get this to her, I was finally able to get it to S today. I was feelin pretty stupid about it today though. A basket with plastic eggs seemed so juvenile, no matter what I had thought of it earlier. I was trying not to regret giving it to her. So after she had opened two of the eggs, she told me she was going to take them home and read them cuz she knew she was gonna cry. S looked at me obviously trying not to get choked up and said something that totally shocked me. S told me that she didn't think she had ever in her life had someone give her an Easter basket before and thanked me for it.

I can't imagine never having gotten an Easter basket. And I look at how inadequate I felt and how I almost didn't even give it to her because of my own insecurities. How amazing our Lord truly is! He knew what He was doing. It's just yet another reminder for me to trust Him with everything I have and all that I am. I may not be able to do much with what I've got sometimes, but surely He can work through it!

Edited for poor grammar.

TY Buglady, but really that wasn't at all why I wanted to share. I wanted to show how even when we feel like we are inadequate or our attempts at doing something nice for someone seem to fall short, that God can and does still use them. As stupid as I felt, God knew what He was doing and it ended up being a blessing. He is so amazing.

Well... thanks...

Hey can I ask y'all to pray for a friend of mine and her family? Her name is Mel. Her 15 year old daughter Angela has to have a heart transplant. They just found out.

Thank you all so much for praying!

I'm working a double at the police department tonight. We are now on grave shift. That's exciting. I love graves. But now I'm trying to stay awake because I didn't sleep much last night. I did go to my friend's dance recital today, which was really cool. I'm glad I went.

I thought I had a lot to babble about, but... it doesn't seem that way right now. There may be more to come.

Hiya Boots, cool that you have this new thread! I just wanted to comment on a couple of things. How did your dental appointment go?

Also, big bummer on the customer who treated you so rudely! Some people have nothing better to do than to belittle others!

Cool beans on the eggs, you are more creative than you think!

Hey Mike! Dental appt went pretty well. I have another appt this Wednesday morning to get the stitches out. He told me they would probably fall out on their own, but that he wanted to check them anyway. They haven't fallen out. They are actually a bit sore tonight - more so than they have been.

I just had to call the on call detective out. Poor guy.. It's not quite 2am. I felt bad - the one who is on call is a really nice guy. He was even nice when he answered at almost 2am!

Have you ever felt like you were so close to something... just one thing in between you and your goal... something surmountable........

and then you find out that someone has just placed a mountain in your path? So that even if you get over the surmountable one... the mountain still blocks you.

Have you ever felt like you were almost good enough and then felt slammed with yet another way that you feel like you've failed?

UGH.....

'Morning Boots.

Ya, I've felt that way, but I've usually found that either I am wrong and that "mountain" is really a surmountable one, or that it's a "mountain" that the Lord has put in the path for a reason. And I know for sure that if you feel "not good enough" - you are wrong. You are good enough- better than good enough, you are the super wonderful "Boots". You are more than enough because of Him who is in you, so that is a lie of the enemy.

Failing isn't always bad you know. It may be that we need to fail in some things. I don't know if that is true in your situation, but if it is where God wants you, you will get over or around that hill that looks like a mountain right now, if it's not where God wants you there will be a reason that turns out to be even better.

That doesn't make looking at that mountain any easier, but... well... I don't know that there is any way in this world to make that any easier. . But I will pray that your mountain becomes a hill or that you will see the other direction that God wants for you really soon.

The last year and half have been totally like that but God was bigger than that mountain. I pray it's the same for you!

Thank y'all so much! I'm... umm... quite a bit more together now.

I'm sitting here, and I think I'm just too tired to have a whole lot to say. Maybe I'll have more to say later....

I ordered contacts. They should be in in a few days. I'm excited. I hate glasses. I am a bit concerned though because I had some problems with them the last time I tried to wear them. So hopefully I've waited long enough and they will be fine. Also, when I went for my eye appt, the eye doc adjusted my glasses and now I can bend over without them falling off! That makes it much easier to deal with glasses... lol.

I'm listening to Klove... they are talking about chocolate. As if I need the encouragement to eat chocolate - now I'm craving.

Personally, I'm very disappointed at how small the bags of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups they sell at the store are...
