OK, I'm a little slow, but here it is... The new and improved thread for 2010. If you don't have a warped sense of humor, this probably isn't the thread for you.

For the rest of you weird people, come on in! But bring your own Ben & Jerry's and such as I don't share mine...

We can eat Ben & Jerry's in jail? Cool. But there shall be no pudding, right?

Nice to go to jail because you want to and can leave when you want to.

We had an inmate the other day complain that our jail was the worst jail ever. Apparently he was quite the connoisseur.

By the way, I'm copying my posts from my last thread regarding how I got into this field and the stories since I've been there. I'm only to my first jail tour at this point, but it has been fun to reminisce. BTW - It's also been fun to see how hilarious you all are! There is some really funny stuff I'd forgotten about!

Hey Phosy, there are hotels here that used to be jails. Then there is the famous tourist sites in both Philadelphia and San Francisco as well.

I'm not sure there is enough bleach in the world to make me PAY to stay somewhere that used to be a jail...

Well, I'm sitting here continuing my post copying endeavor, cleaning my desk and making brownies. I mean, what else would I be doing at midnight?

No kidding.

But I've heard most hotels are not all that clean either. I remember a Monk episode that totally grossed me out. Then Dateline or 20/20 did an episode on hotels.

And the last time I stayed in a motel, a nicer one, I found a... hair that belong to someone else on my blanket.

After the late shows there is nothing but infomercials.

Almost everything is germy if you really want to think about it.

We have some "clients" who are very comfortable in our jail as well... Or at least they sure seem to like coming and visiting a lot. I still like my idea of getting a flashing, neon "VACANCY" sign to hang outside our jail...

This is incredibly true! It's much easier to not think about it. I'm seriously with Howie Mandel and the elimination of handshaking from our culture. Though, I think we need just enough germiness to ward off the really bad germs, too.

It's not germs, it's the fluids that are on phones and such. I can't imagine why someone would do that, other than they are perverse.

I used to work as a maid in a 4 star hotel (before they had 5 star ratings) and you don't want to know some of the things that happen even in the "nicest" of hotels.

Hi Phosy! Not sure we've been properly introduced, but since it's a new year and you have new thread (love the title, btw), I thought I'd come and check it out!

This may be common knowledge to most of your friends, but can I inquire about your handle? It's very unique and I can't figure out what it means. Can you enlighten me, please?

Thanks and have a great night!

I made a point of remembering that once, but now I've forgotten what I remembered. Oh well, you know what they say about short-term memory......

I have a friend who is the night auditor at a hotel and I think she knows the local police more than I do. And it's a nice hotel.

Well, tonight will be my first graveyard shift. Here's hoping I can stay awake. Last night I made it to somewhere around 5am before falling asleep sitting up. I finally went to bed "officially" at about 6am. Tonight I'll need to make it to about 8:30am (I get off at 8, but I need to be able to get home...). I think I may take a nap here soon and see it that helps.

As well as some caffeine in the form of some coffee...
