What's wrong with Pizza Hut? I used to like it the best, but now I like Papa John's better and it is closer. My 3 year old asked for pizza tonight for dinner. I told him he'd have to settle for a chicken sandwich.

I biked 15 miles today.

My blood sugars have been excellent all day -- without my morning insulin shot. And I just tested (pre-dinner) and definitely won't be taking my dinner shot. So far, so good!

Dinner tonight is tuna, reduced fat wheat thins, homemade veggie soup (from my neighbor!), cheese toast and puffed kamut.

Good Job Harvie!

I like pizza hut but it is a little greasy.

I like Papa Johns and some of the local places. Dominos, Little Caesars and Hungry Howies are yucky.

I don't care for the sauce. I have thought about getting a personal pan minus the sauce. It would sort of be like the cheese bread sticks only with pepperoni on it.

I thought all pizza was greasy. Never liked Little Caesars or Hungry Howies. Yuck! Dominos is good though.

Sounds dry to me Kath, but if you don't like their sauce you probably wouldn't mind not having it.

When I make pizza, I nuke the pepperoni first, and press all of the grease out, so my pizzas are not greasy. But yeah, pepperoni pizzas are certainly greasy.

I can't have pizza, really -- way too high in carbs for me to have more than one slice ~ white flour really spikes my blood sugar ~ and that's not very much food for dinner. (The average thin crust pizza slice has 25 carbs.) And one slice of Pizza Hut thin crust pepperoni pizza? 14g of fat (including 5g of saturated fat.) Right now, I am limiting my fat intake to 20% of my daily calories -- which is 40g of fat for the entire day.

For those of you who make pizza at home, Hormel Turkey Pepperoni is a healthy alternative to traditional pepperoni: only 73 calories per serving (17 slices) and 3.5g of fat.

I'm confused. I thought Molly's birthday was on the 17th, or is there another Molly I'm not aware of??

You are quite correct. I will turn (gasp!) 45 years old on March 17, St. Patrick's Day... which always sort of bugged everyone on my mom's side of the family since they're Scottish (and right off the boat from Scotland), and not Irish, lol!

So ... no worries, you have another 2.5 weeks to get my cards and presents in the mail! (grin)

Molly, I am one day shy of exactly 1 year older than you!!!! I'll be 46 on the 18th! GASP...how did I get sooooo old!!!!

I'm also going to be have another 40 something birthday in two months!

Anyone else craving chinese? We actually had chinese yesterday for lunch, and I ate the leftovers for breakfast this morning, but now I want more. This chinese craving has been going on for about a week, and apparently it isn't going away anytime soon.

I crave chinese, quite frequently. Asian is my favorite ethnic food and it is one of those rare types of food that I will eat leftover.

I've had a sinus infection for way over a week now. Last Monday, I went to the doctor and he gave me 800 mg of Ibuprofen for my gigantic headache and 500 mg of Amoxicillian for the sinus infection. My ears have been absolutely stuffed up for the longest time but today I did feel some popping going on and the pressure does seem to be going away some. This is all due to outdoor allergies.

My son's allergies have been really horrible, lately. The doctor said this spring is really bad for allergies, in our area because we have had such a wet spring that is causing everything to grow. He is very allergic to all types of grasses, olive trees, our cat and other types of pollens and mold. He will definately start getting allergy shots in the next week or so. Hopefully, if everything works the way its supposed to, those shots will make it so he is not allergic to that stuff at all. It takes a few years of shots but then he will not have all of these allergies for the rest of his life. Well worth the time and effort its going to take to get him to all of his appointments, IMO.

Have a great week, everyone!

ofa23,My son has allergies too, to mold, pollen & cats, so he has a stuffed up nose pretty much everyday of the year. I didn't know they still gave out allergy shots, my son's doctor never mentioned the possibility to us. I hope the allergy shots work for your son. Hope you feel better too.

Harvie, what if you start lifting weight instead of biking all the time? Maybe you're burning up too many calories biking?

But I want to burn up calories! (grin)

You'd still burn calories doing weights--you also burn more calories after you're done a workout if you've done weights, compared to cardio. I don't know about you, but I'd see that as an advantage for sure!

I must admit that I was gratified and excited after biking 87 miles last week to see that the scale was cooperating so nicely with my healthy-eating goals: I lost 4 pounds this week, woo hoo!!! And, in looking at my overall weight loss since I started on December 1, I am happy to report that as of this morning, I've lost 15 percent of my starting weight in just 14 weeks! And the best news, as far as I'm concerned, is the fact that it seems that my body's insulin needs have diminished greatly due to my biking, and I am now down to just ONE INSULIN SHOT PER DAY! (at bedtime!) WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's nine days until my 45th birthday, but I must say that this is a great gift to myself! (happy sigh)

Getting healthier one nibble at a time ...

Yes, Anne that is very true. I took a class for women and weights and that's what the instructor told us, plus it's good to keep our muscles strong as we get older. Dh had a physical last year and the nurse told him to start lifting because our muscles need it as we get older. It can keep you rom breaking things.

Good job Harvie. I'm back on the wagon today.

You can also incorporate the weights into a cardio program. We used to do that in aerobics. Also, muscle burns calories, so I try to gain some mass and lose some fat...I'm just not that successful.

Ofa, I had allergy shots before.. but there is no cure for allergies.

Allergies can come and go at any time though.

It sounds gross but a neti pot can work.

Oh, I hate the Princess Bride book. It's one of the very rare cases where the movie is actually better.

I think the Narnia movies are better than the books too.

Which Narnia movies, the older BBC ones or the recent ones? I thought the BBC versions were pretty good (Aslan puppet notwithstanding) but I was not impressed with the Prince Caspian movie. But then, I've read one set of the Narnia books to pieces so I might be a bit biased.

I think the new The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was better than the book. I didn't see the BBC version, and Prince Caspian was a good movie but too far from the book.
